Pyle Rome attorneys overturn terminations of two Verizon technicians accused of falsifying work records

April 01, 2012

Attorneys Al Gordon and Ian Russell successfully overturned the termination of two Verizon field technicians who were falsely accused of taking credit for work that they didn’t perform. In separate cases regarding two employees who had been working together, Attorneys Gordon and Russell convinced two different arbitration panels that the Company did not have just cause to terminate either employee. While Verizon had claimed that the two IBEW-represented technicians improperly created and closed out false work orders in order to avoid performing other work, Gordon and Russell demonstrated that the employees had been tracking their work in the same manner as had been done for many years. Ultimately, the arbitration panels determined that Verizon failed to bear its burden of proving that the employees falsified any records and ordered them both reinstated with nearly two years’ back pay.
