Tufts Adjuncts Vote Is Overwhelmingly In Favor of Forming Union

October 02, 2013

In an astonishing demonstration of demand for increased voice in the workplace of higher education, the overwhelming majority of participating adjunct faculty at Tufts University elected to be represented by Service Employees International Union on terms and conditions of employment. This election represents the first battle of an intense campaign to empower contingent faculty at various Boston-area colleges and universities. Attorneys Patrick Bryant and David Rome provided legal assistance for the Tufts campaign and were present at the vote count. Credit for victory belongs to the Tufts adjuncts who initiated the drive, and SEIU'sAdjunct Action initiative.

Adjunct faculty at Bentley have already voted but the count has been delayed by the ongoing government shutdown.
