Pyle Rome Attorney Alex Robertson And UFCW Local 1459 Slam The Door Shut On The National Right To Work Foundation - AGAIN!
Once again, the out-of-state right-wing anti-union extremists at the National Right to Work (for less) Foundation were no match for Pyle Rome attorney Alex Robertson and the Won't-Back-Down attitude of the leadership of UFCW, Local 1459. On February 26, 2024, Attorney Robertson and Local 1459 finally closed the door on an attempt to decertify a nascent bargaining unit of cannabis workers at the Berkshire Roots grow facility in Pittsfield, Mass.
In the summer of 2022, Berkshire Roots engaged in a course of bad faith bargaining that was clearly designed to avoid reaching a contract, which then opened the door for the folks at NRTW to file a petition to decertify the Union. Attorney Robertson intervened and convinced the state labor board to block the petition due to the unfair labor practices. The company and the Union settled the case by extending the certification year and by agreeing to continue bargaining in good faith. While the folks at NRTW tried to get the Union to agree not to use the settlement agreement iin the decertification case, Robertson smartly refused, and the settlement ultimately led to the petition being dismissed.
Read the attached decision of the Commonwealth Employment Relations Board to see how Attorney Robertson dismantled their arguments to give the employees and their Union a chance to bargain a fair deal free from out-of-state extremist influences.
