Attorney Leah Barrault Co-Files Complaint to Protect Health Insurance for Andover Retirees
Attorney Leah Barrault is fighting a move by the Town of Andover to dramatically increase the health insurance costs of its retirees. Recently, the Town acted to nearly double the percentage of health insurance premiums paid by retirees. The Town has announced plans to increase retiree's share of premiums even more in future years.
The Town did so despite the overwhelming vote of the Massachusetts legislature to ban increases on retiree health insurance. The Town rushed through this change during a brief period between the Governor's veto of the Legislature's extension of the existing ban, and the Legislature's override of the Governor's veto. To fight for and protect current and future retirees of Andover, Attorney Barrault is joining efforts of Attorney Harold Lichten, of Lichten & Liss-Riordan, P.C. A copy of their complaint, framed as a class action on behalf of all current and future retirees, is attached.
